Let's Do Our Part
From this world we all shall go, it’s destined from the start, but while we’re here, let’s do our part
The world is made of many things,
The air, the sky, the birds that sing,
the oceans, seas and fish that swim
in organized confusion
it’s just an illusion,
they know where they’re bound
Into this world man has come,
He’s changed from real to false the sun,
which guides his folly
it’s form is money.
That’s just his policy
Is it so sound?
While business time on the Stock Exchange
While politicians play dice for power.
To you does it seem strange,
that milk from cows is turning sour,
that fish are dying in the English Channel,
that golden seabirds are turning black,
with the residue from oil-slicks.
that are slowly strangling the track
of Nature’s evolutionary tricks.
From this world we all shall go
it’s destined from the start
but while we’re here
Let’s do our part
to stop the world degenerating
the population propagating
the destruction of the nation
with thoughtlessness self-gratification.

1972 never knew that he and I were writing similar stuff. Forget all this emphasis on climate change, Tony and I were well aware of the almost panicky desire by one minority race of humans desperate to become fantasy rich (when did actually see a million coins/pounds/dollars etc?) regardless of the cost to the earth. It's all capitalist fairyland based on mutual imagination. Tony and I are not part of that species, albeit that he dabbled with it in Hong Kong. Shame we never pursued the battle for balance in the universe together.
